It’s Tabloid Time; my favorite time to report all the week’s Tabloid gossip I think is important! The Enquirer was a little lame in stories this week; The Star’s main focus is Kevin cheating on Britney; duh…we know that and it’s the same photo they had from last week; I’ll discuss later. I picked up Entertainment Weekly this week, as George Clooney looked so damn hot on the cover, I couldn’t pass it up! And interestingly enough, you know how I feel about the Globe; however, it seems to be the only rag reporting the TomKat wedding is actually off. I’m not sure if I believe it, since no one else is even mentioning trouble in TomKat-dise; however, I’ll give the “facts” and you decide.
First, the Enquirer….
Page 4 – Seems Charlie Sheen can’t stop his insatiable appetite for gambling, so wife Denise has finally had enough for real this time, and has told her lawyers to go ahead and file for divorce.
Page 5 – Kiefer, you should use that photo for your Christmas card this year.
Page 29 – Seems that sobriety tests aren’t the only tests a few cast members of LOST have faced recently (Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros - http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2005-12-29-lost-arraignments_x.htm). Apparently, a recent DNA test shows that Naveen Andrews is the father of a love child with Elena Eustache.
On to The Star….
Page 13 – More details on what went wrong with Denise and Charlie…on Christmas day no less.
Page 15 – If Nicole Richie gets any skinnier, she won’t be able to hold her cell phone to her ear, and carry that huge handbag on her shoulder! Apparently, her friends are thinking she may need an intervention, as well. Here’s a clue…when your sunglasses practically cover your entire face, I think it’s time to eat a sandwich!
Page 17 – The Road to Miss America; a 2 -page ad, which seems to be in all the mags. It airs on CMT at 8 pm ET/PT, Saturday, January 21st. Seems they are going back to more traditional pageant ways…does that mean less brainiac questions and more T&A?
Page 44 – a full color photo of the woman (Kendra Jade) Kevin is allegedly cheating on Britney with. Britney, I’m telling ya…get rid of him now. Why let him waste all your money on bars, booze, and broads! Remember the old adage…once a cheater, always a cheater!
Page 50 – Nick and Jessica supposedly had a secret meeting together at the Valley Inn Restaurant and Bar in Sherman Oaks, January 4th. She was there eating dinner with her sister Ashley, mom Tina, and dad Joe. Nick showed up “unexpectedly” and slid into the booth beside them, and looked at her dreamily. Hello….that Inn is under renovation; how would Nick have known it was open, and anyone was there having dinner unless someone told him to meet them there?
Page 53 – Lindsay Lohan partying with her mom…there’s a shocker.
Page 57 – Apparently Vince’s friends think Jen is monopolizing his time, and aren’t so happy about it. Less buddy time for them; are you kidding me?
Page 59 — Yes, I get it…Star Jones has lost weight and is happy with her sex life. I get it; I get it…enough already.
Now Entertainment Weekly – I truly bought it because George Clooney looked so hot on the cover.
Page 22 starts an entire 4-page spread on him, mainly about his Oscar chances, with possibly nominations for both “Good Night, and Good Luck” and “Syriana”. Who cares about the article, it’s a damn good photo of him.
Page 28 – 34 lists EW picks for Oscar; Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best original Screenplay…it’s worth a read.
And a programming note: Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 21, 10 PM/9C for HBO’s Comedy Special, Dennis Miller, All In. Let’s see if we get the old Dennis Miller, when he didn’t care what anyone thought about his opinion on politics, and he was laugh-your-ass-off funny; not what we see now; the stiff, conservative Republican Dennis Miller, who’s not quite so funny.
And finally the Globe.
Page 31 - the center spread has the TomKat wedding problem. Apparently, the wedding’s off, due to Katie’s father and Tom not seeing eye to eye on the Scientology issue. According to “sources”, Tom’s camp is in a complete state of chaos, as this has never happened to him in a relationship before, i.e. his girlfriend’s father (or fiancée in this case) giving advice to the daughter, and the daughter actually listening to it; not blinding doing whatever Mr. Scientology says to do. Tom doesn’t quite know what to do now with Katie listening to the father’s advice and/or concerns, and actually thinking things over, before she makes any permanent decision on their future.
Again, since I haven’t heard of this TomKat wedding problem anywhere else, I’m taking it with a grain, until I hear or read otherwise. Stay tuned!
