Can I just say enough already with the voyeuristic fascination of American Idol. Every magazine I pick up, every newspaper I look at, every Internet or blog site has something about American Idol. How the auditions are going; the stand-out contestant who’s going to go all the way; Paula and Simon’s hatred for each other or Randy Jackson and his Dawg’s. Do I care; not really, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way.
When did voyeurism become the norm in society? When did it become acceptable to watch someone make an ass of them self, cheer them on, then propel them to stardom, like William Hung of She Bangs fame. Here’s a kid that was attending UC Berkeley, studying Civil Engineering, and gave it all up to become America’s hot item of the moment. Were people laughing at him or with him? I suspect a degree in Civil Engineering would have been the better choice, rather then the extended 15 minutes of fame he opted for.
It’s a show that I’ve watched only once, and then not even the entire way through. I knew within the first 15 minutes I was done.
Ludy…out!
