And The Winner Is….

Written on Monday March 6, 2006

It’s all over except the parties, and I must say, Mr. Ludy and I thought is was SUCH a better show than last year. Jon Stewart made the show!. The set was beautiful, the opening montage very funny; the only flaw in the show was the annoying background music playing every time someone was making their acceptance speech. Yes, I get that time is important, but that was damned annoying. I felt as though we all needed to rush them through their speech so the next winner could be announced. However, it was a far cry from last year, when the winners had to make their acceptance speeches in the aisle of the theatre. THAT was ridiculous.

Now, let’s talk fashion and overall performance. Most of the women had their hair in low, polished buns that made them look very oscar worthy. Most wore black, some were brave enough to wear color, i.e. J Lo in the olive green number that went very well with her skin tone, but black seemed to be the choice for the majority, both male and female.

First, Dolly Parton. What was she thinking! Her waist must be a size -10 and her chest, hair and collagined lips overpowered her tiny little body. It was like watching a skeleton sing. Eat something Dolly, really!

Felicity Hoffman, a great actress; not such a great dress! I felt as though it did nothing to accentuate her beauty.

Reese Witherspoon, a great actress in Walk the Line, and a great dress! Her hair and make-up were perfect, as well. She looked every bit the academy award winning actress she now is.

Jessica Alba - a vision from head to toe.

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves - come on! Sandra walked the entire length of the carpet with her hands in the pockets of her dress; what’s up with that! Did she think she was wearing a pair of levy’s? Who does that? If you ask me, she looked a bit tired as well.

Charlize Thereon - she must have been going for the Bridgette Bardot look. She’s usually a stunner, but the bow on the shoulder of her dress was too overpowering, and her hair was so done…you either loved or hated the look. Let’s just say, I didn’t love it.

Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin - a class act, both of them. Meryl is so smart, funny and sophisticated. How can you not love her. She’s truly a star! Her dress was perfect for her, but her earrings were a bit overpowering. Even she was having trouble with them, as she adjusted them on stage during her appearance with Lily. Shorter ones or some type of stud would have been a better choice for her.

Owen and Luke Wilson - wow. One is good, but both of them together - HOT!

Uma looked great in her dress. Her hair was perfect for the dress style; however, her makeup was a little overpowering. I have to say, most of the more glamorous actresses were a bit too heavily made up this evening.

These were the stand-out moments for me. Overall, an amazing display of glamour, grace and Hollywood beauty, both male and female.

Oh, and one more thing…George Clooney has grown so much as an actor and an individual. To me, he is the epitamy of a true movie star. He has such a presence about him; he is sure to become a Hollywood legend.
