Comedian Red Buttons died today at his Century City home in Los Angeles.  He was 87.   You may remember him as the funny burlesque comic who turned to more dramatic roles later in his career, and won an Oscar in 1957 for his portrayal of Sergeant Joe Kelly, in “Sayonara”.

He was one of the great comedians of his generation and will be missed.
