Monday Morning Box Office

Written on Monday August 7, 2006

Okay…what does this say about the country when Talladega Nights:  The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is No. 1 at the box office, taking in an estimated $47,000,000 in it’s opening weekend.  I refuse to see another Will Ferrell movie where he’s running around half-naked, this time in a diaper.  I’ve only seen previews and snipets of the film, but that’s enough to know it’s the same movie as Anchorman, only a different subject.

Paramount’s Barnyard: The Original Party Animals took in $16,040,000 in it’s opening weekend, making it No. 2 at the box office.

No. 3 is BV’s Pirates of the Caribbean:  Dead Man’s Chest taking in $11,011,000 and making it’s 5 week total a stagering $379,709,000.  Quite a pirates treasure!

Universal’s Miami Vice dropped from No. 1 to No. 4 taking in $9,683,000, making it’s total $45,740,000 in it’s second week.

And Lionsgate, The Descent, is No. 5 taking in $8,800,000 in it’s first weekend.
