Monday Morning Box Office

Written on Monday August 28, 2006

Let me start out by saying that SNAKES ON A PLANE didn’t hold up to it’s hype, and dropped from being No. 1 last week to No. 9 this week.
Gee, what a surprise…NOT! A lot of hiss…no bite!

No. 1 this week was INVINCIBLE (Buena Vista) taking in an opening bank of $17,029,000.

No. 2 was TALLEDEGA NIGHTS (Sony) racing to the bank with another $8,000,000 and taking it’s current grand total to $127,684,000 in it’s 4th week of release.

No. 3 was LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE (Fox Searchlight), an excellent film which stole another $7,500,000, taking it’s total to $23,024,000 in it’s 5th week of release.

No. 4 was BEERFEST (Warner Bros.) with an opening gross of $6,500,000. Enjoy it while it lasts, as there won’t be much more cash coming in unless it’s from the DVD release. Who greenlights this stuff?!

No. 5 was ACCEPTED (Universal) ah…college life. Taking in another $6,476,000 and taking it’s total to $21,118,000.
